Investing in our network

As part of our promise to bring a new era of connectivity, we have a £11bn investment plan to improve our network for all customers across the UK.

Upgrading our sites

With upgrades happening across 15,000 UK sites, we're giving millions of our customers a 4G speed boost of 20% or more.

Moving at pace

We’re moving fast, with customers already seeing the benefits of our upgraded network. But we’re not slowing down – there are more improvements on their way.

Faster 4G starts now

We’re upgrading our 4G network, boosting 4G speeds for more than 7 million of our customers across the UK. But what does that mean for your business? As our upgrades roll out across the country, millions of customers using 4G ready devices will experience:

Faster speeds

Enjoy smoother streaming, quicker downloads, and an unrivalled online experience thanks to a 4G speed boost of 20% or more.

Less buffering

We’ve strengthened our network in the busy outdoor places you need it most – like cities and busy train stations. So, you can do what you need to do with less buffering slowing you down.

Better reliability

More capacity means a more reliable connection – even at peak times. Whether you're working remotely or travelling for business, our network keeps up with you.

Bringing our networks together will be seamless. Our coverage checker will be updated with new and improved coverage availability as this is rolled out

Network performance is monitored closely and should not impact your signal.

  • Fewer dropped calls or slow downloads: Your device will automatically use the signal of whichever network is best at your location, meaning you can connect to more coverage, ultimately providing a better online experience for your business.
  • Stronger coverage in more places: From video calls to mobile banking, improved coverage across the country will create a more seamless and reliable mobile experience. The upgrade also delivers coverage to areas that previously had weak or patchy signal.
  • Better performance during peak times: At busy times like rush hour, networks can become overloaded. However, with access to 2 networks and more capacity, the demand can be better managed ensuring higher quality service and performance levels.

Your device will show as your normal provider. You’ll simply notice that you get improved 4G or 5G coverage where you might not have had it before.

No. Not all sites on Three or Vodafone will be enabled right away. This means that coverage maps will still vary depending on the location.

There may be other things impacting the network in your area. You can find out more by using our Network Status Checker.

We’ll be in touch once improvements are made in your area.

Not all masts support 5G, however 4G will be available.

This is a mobile network technology improvement, so business mobile broadband customers will see a benefit.

Terms

Throughout 2025 we’ll be upgrading our 4G network by enabling Three customers to access new Spectrum available from our merger with Vodafone. Particular quality improvements vary by location, but at least 7 million Three customers should experience an improvement.

Actual speeds may vary and depend on a number of factors including distance from mast, local geography, position of buildings and device used.
